Scenic Rim Trail, Main Range National Park

For experienced bushwalkers, the Scenic Rim Trail offers a 4-day adventure through private property and the rugged mountains of Main Range National Park. This challenging trail, part of the Gondwana Rainforests, provides beautiful views, lush waterfalls, and a journey through Queensland's pioneer heritage. Lace up your boots, follow the orange trail markers, and take your time to enjoy the 47km trail from Thornton View to Cunninghams Gap.

Border Track

Embark on a full-day hike along the Border Track, connecting the Green Mountains and Binna Burra sections of Lamington National Park. This rewarding journey takes you through diverse landscapes, including rainforests, valleys, and ridgelines. Listen to the call of the Albert’s lyrebird and enjoy breathtaking views. The trail starts and ends at Binna Burra Lodge and O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat.

Curtis Falls, Tamborine National Park

Embark on an enchanting 1.1km walk through Tamborine National Park to experience lush rainforests and Curtis Falls. Suitable for most abilities, this family-friendly trail takes you through wet eucalypt forests and dense rainforests, leading to a breathtaking view of the waterfalls. Keep an eye out for wildlife like turtles, fish, and even the elusive platypus. Remember, the rock pool and surrounding area are restricted to protect glow-worm and platypus populations.

O’Reilly’s Treetop Walk, Lamington National Park

For a family-friendly adventure, head to O’Reilly’s hub in Lamington National Park and explore the Treetop Walk. Wander along the wide boardwalk, cross suspension bridges, and climb to a viewing platform for panoramic views.

Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, Tamborine National Park

Experience the Scenic Rim from new heights on the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk at Tamborine Mountain. This paid adventure takes you above the canopy with a 1.5km trail and 300 meters of elevated walkway and offers incredible views. Interpretive panels along the way educate visitors about the rainforest's ecology, the diverse plant and animal life, and the importance of conservation.

Mt Barney

For adventurous souls, Mount Barney offers a challenging hike with unparalleled views. The wilderness park is marked by seven mountains, including Mt Barney, Queensland’s fourth-highest peak, and offers some of the Scenic Rim’s most challenging walks and pristine bushland. Ascend via the East Ridge or South East Ridge route and experience the stunning scenery of Southeast Queensland. 

Length: 3.7 km
